• Difficulty: Above average
  • Route duration: 5 hours
  • Length: 8 km
  • Minimum number of participants: 2 people

Participants meet with experienced guides in a designated place. Guides check that all group members have a full avalanche equipment. Then, the group uses the lift to reach the mountain top of Sadzele (3300m above sea level). We take a car to the foot of the mountain (20 min) and climb according to a planned route to the monastery. This program combines physical activity with cultural education in its long trek to an ancient monastery. The monastery is dated to 9-10th century and is one of the oldest monasteries in Georgia. It is located on the peak of Lomisi which hosts a view of the ski resort Gudauri as well as the main ridge of the Caucasus. The monastery is the most elevated in the region and monks live there permanently. Our guides will not only provide you with safe and high-quality skiing, but also tell details about the monastery and its history of cultural significance. This route is ideal for those who are interested in Georgian culture and love to ride on virgin snow.
